  2. Euthanasia is the act of ending somebody’s life without pain and suffers. The most common euthanized are pets. When animals suffer from an injury or illness, veterinarians euthanized them by injecting drugs such as Barbiturate, to “put them asleep”. This gives a chance for pet owner’s to say goodbye. In the 1997 survey conducted by the National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy, 64% of animals were euthanized out of 5.3 million animals. The most euthanized were dogs and cats. Euthanasia is legal in Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Thailand, Oregon and Washington. There are two forms of euthanasia, voluntary, and involuntary. This topic has been controversial in recent years, should euthanasia be legal?
Some patients choose to end their life by euthanasia. There are many reasons why they choose that, the most common reason is to end suffer and pain. Others also end their life as a way to relief when the patient feels hopeless and the quality of their life is low. Voluntary euthanasia is the help from the physician to end the patient’s life upon request. Some patients suffer from incurable diseases or treatments that are not effective to change their condition. Some other pros of euthanasia are finances, freedom of choice, and health care costs. Health Care costs are sometimes unbearable to families who have low income or little support. It is the patient’s right to end his life or not.
Involuntary euthanasia is when the patient’s will is overruled or disregarded, or the action is taken without the patient’s authorization. This is usually the same thing as homicide and murder. There are many advanced medical technologies that have helped many patients to live longer and increases the quality of life. There are many centers that helped patients to live pain free and get a better life. Also, doctors can not predict the actual date of your death and whether or not there’s a possibility of recovery or a new life. If euthanasia is legal, then it will be considered the right to kill and not the right to die. How would doctors determine if the mentally ill patients have a logical thought about euthanasia and they are in the right state of mind?
There are many pros and cons of euthanasia. I believe that euthanasia should not be legal because it is the same thing as homicide and murder. Even though euthanasia relieves pain and suffer, there are many advanced technologies that help to live a pain free life. I stated in the paragraph about, doctors can not predict the actual date of your death. People view euthanasia in many different ways, and I view euthanasia should be illegal because it devalues human life. And I also believe that if you are determined to live, you will.
Euthanasia had been the focus in recent years, there are many that believe euthanasia helps patients to end their lives peacefully and there are many that opposed euthanasia. I oppose euthanasia because it is a homicide, and not actually ending someone’s life pain free. If someone has an incurable disease, that person might give up his/her bed in the hospital for someone who can be cured. I believe that your life should not depend on what the doctors tell you because you will have a chance to live if you believe in yourself. But, if doctors tell you there’s a slight chance to live, your hopes will decrease and it devalues human life. You should depend on your own thoughts and your
    determination.
